About This Grass
Forms a moderately dense, upright turf with medium-coarse texture. Displays a rich medium-to-dark green color that remains vibrant throughout much of the year. Height reaches 2 to 4 feet if unmowed, but maintained at 2 to 3.5 inches for lawns. Seed heads are open, branching panicles.
Blade Characteristics
Blades are medium-wide (4-8mm), flat with prominent parallel veins and a rough texture on the margins. Leaf tip is pointed. Vernation is rolled in the bud. Ligule is a very short membrane, and auricles are small and blunt or absent.
Root System
Extremely deep fibrous root system, often growing 2 to 3 feet or deeper into the soil profile. Provides exceptional drought tolerance, moderate establishment speed, and minimal thatch-forming tendencies.
