About This Grass
A dark green, bunching grass known for its rapid germination and establishment. It has a glossy/shiny underside on the leaf blades and a distinctive reddish-purple pigmentation at the base of the stems (sheaths) as visible in the image.

Fine to medium width (2-4mm); folded in the bud (vernation); leaf tips are pointed; upper surface is dull with prominent ridges; lower surface is smooth and very glossy/shiny; auricles are small and claw-like; ligule is short and membranous.
