About This Grass

Forms a dense, coarse-textured lawn with a vibrant bright green to blue-green color. Mowed typically at 2.5 to 3 inches, but can grow much taller if left unmaintained. Produces a flattened seed spike at maturity.

Blade Characteristics

Coarse blades, width typically 4-10mm, flat shape with rounded or blunt tips. Rolled in the bud (vernation). Has a short membranous ligule with hairs, and lacks auricles. The collar is continuous and broad.

Root System

Moderately deep fibrous root system combined with robust stolons. Forms a heavy thatch layer over time. Establishes relatively quickly from sod or plugs.
