About This Grass
Forms a dense, dark green clump with upright seed stalks reaching up to 1-2 feet tall at maturity. Features glossy undersides on the leaves and distinctive spike-like seed heads with alternate spikelets.
Blade Characteristics
Medium width (2-4mm), flat shape, pointed tips, dark green color with a very glossy undersurface, folded in the bud (vernation). Features a small membranous ligule and prominent clasping auricles.
Root System
Fibrous, moderately deep root system with a fast establishment speed. Does not form a spreading sod via rhizomes, relying entirely on heavy tillering for density.
