About This Grass
Forms a moderately dense, upright turf with a medium-to-coarse texture and vibrant medium-to-dark green color. Unmowed height can reach 2 to 4 feet with panicle seed heads, but when maintained as a lawn it is kept at 2 to 3.5 inches. Retains green color longer into hot summers and cold winters than many other cool-season grasses.
Blade Characteristics
Blades are medium-to-coarse in width (4-8mm), flat with prominent parallel veins on the upper surface and a shiny underside. Tip is pointed. Vernation is rolled in the bud. Ligule is a very short, membranous collar. Auricles are absent, though the collar region is distinct and often broad.

Deep, extensive fibrous root system going down 2 to 3 feet or more, providing exceptional drought tolerance. Low-to-moderate thatch-forming tendency, medium establishment speed from seed.
