Tall Fescue is a coarse-textured, deep-rooting bunchgrass with a vibrant medium to dark green color. Unmowed, it can grow up to 2-4 feet tall, producing loose, open panicle seed heads. When maintained as a turf or utility ground cover, it forms a robust, upright stand that tolerates partial shade under solar panels.
Blade Characteristics
Blades are medium-coarse in width (4-8mm), flat with prominent parallel veins on the upper surface, and possess pointed tips. Vernation is rolled in the bud. Features a short membranous ligule, small or absent auricles, and a broad, distinct collar region.
