About This Grass
Forms a moderately coarse, upright bunch-type turf of medium to dark green color. It maintains good color into late autumn and early winter. When unmowed, it can grow up to 2-3 feet tall with open panicle seed heads, but when maintained as a lawn, it forms a thick, upright turf with wide blades.
Blade Characteristics
Medium to coarse width (4-8mm), flat shape with prominent parallel veins and a distinct midrib on the underside. Pointed tips, dark green to medium green color. Rolled in the bud (vernation). Short membranous ligule, small or absent auricles, and a broad collar region.
Root System
Deeply rooted fibrous root system going down 2 to 3 feet or more, contributing to superior drought tolerance. Moderate establishment speed, low-to-moderate thatch tendency under normal management.
