About This Grass
Forms a moderately dense, coarse-textured turf with an upright growth habit. Color is a rich, medium-to-dark green that is retained well into the autumn. Height ranges from 2 to 4 inches when maintained as a lawn, but can grow up to 3 to 4 feet if left unmowed, producing open, branching panicle seed heads.
Blade Characteristics
Blades are medium-to-wide (typically 4-8mm), flat with prominent parallel veins on the upper surface and a shiny underside. Tips are typically pointed. Vernation is rolled in the bud. The ligule is a very short membrane, and auricles are small, blunt, and clasping.
