About This Grass
Forms a moderately dense turf with medium-to-coarse texture and a deep green color. Height ranges from 2 to 4 inches when maintained as a lawn, but can grow up to 3 to 4 feet if left unmowed. Features open, branched panicle seed heads at maturity.
Blade Characteristics
Blades are medium-coarse in width (typically 4-8 mm), flat to slightly folded, with pointed tips. Vernation is rolled in the bud. Leaves possess prominent parallel veins on the upper surface and a smooth, shiny underside. Ligule is a short membranous fringe, auricles are small and blunt or absent, and the collar region is broad and continuous.
