About This Grass
Forms a dense, upright, coarse-textured clump when isolated, but blends into a uniform turf when seeded densely. Height ranges from 2 to 4 inches when maintained as a lawn, and up to 3 feet if unmowed. Color is a rich medium-to-dark green that tends to retain color better into winter than other cool-season grasses.
Blade Characteristics
Blades are medium-to-coarse in width (4-8mm), flat with prominent parallel veins on the upper surface and a shiny underside. Vernation is rolled in the bud. Tip shape is pointed. Ligule is a very short, membranous collar, and auricles are absent or blunt.
