About This Grass
Forms a moderately dense, upright turf with medium-to-coarse texture. Unmowed, it can grow up to 2-4 feet tall, but when maintained as a lawn, it is kept much lower. Exhibits a vibrant medium-to-dark green color that persists well into autumn and withstands drought stress by going into temporary summer dormancy (turning brown as seen in patches), greening up quickly upon receiving moisture.
Blade Characteristics
Blades are medium-to-coarse in width (approx 3-6mm), flat with prominent parallel veins on the upper surface and a shiny underside. Tip is sharply pointed. Vernation is rolled in the bud. The auricles are absent or blunt, and the ligule is very short and membranous.
Root System
Deep, extensive fibrous root system going down several feet into the soil profile. Provides exceptional drought tolerance and stability. Moderate thatch-forming tendency; establishes fairly quickly from seed.
